The Dee is my local patch. Well, not all of it! It is a huge area of intertidal mudflat and saltmarsh accessible from the English and Welsh shores.
I concentrate on the Wirral side of the estuary, from Hilbre Island to the West Kirby Marine Lake, along Caldy Shore to the Thurstaston mudflats and on to the fringes of the saltmarsh at Lower Heswall, past Parkgate and on to Burton.
The main feature is wetland birds with thousands of waders and wildfowl visiting in winter, but I'm interested in all of the wildlife on the Dee and the countryside that surrounds it, whatever time of year.
Look out for details of what's about, what I've seen, what I've photographed and some musings/rants about what's going on on the Dee/world!
